Down in Fraggle Rock
So I have this little lull in my school schedule where I can actually write something here without panicking that I should be writing actual assignments. Seeing as though my last hand-in written assignment was just completed and soon to be handed in on campus, I have a bit of freedom. Mind you I should prepare for operation impending doom exams.
So in this frenzy of end of term crap, which has been exacerbated by the fact 3/5 of my teaching staff have been striking, I just realized I have spent the vast majority of it in silence. Seriously folks, SILENCE. For someone who has an endless array of musical options at her disposal, I seem to have this nasty habit of abandoning music. Only in the aftermath do I ever notice this
In other news, I picked up the new Sevendust and In Flames albums last week. Not exactly impressed, but not exactly disappointed either. They more or less just exist to me. Sevendust seem content in releasing the same stuff time and time again, with no real evolution, aside from including Daughtry on a track (I could argue against this being an evolution, but not now), which I presume was an attempt to cash in on the mainstream market. Don't get me wrong, I really do like Sevendust but I guess I expect something more substantial in their releases. I would prefer to wait a year or two for an album rather than the yearly fare that has been offered up. This is just me I suppose. In Flames...I don't have enough of their back catalogue to compare, but the recent album doesn't really sonally jump out at me.
Maybe I should go listen to something and be less bitter today.
